Workshop
The Fond du Lac Public Library will offer a free card making and
stamping workshop for adults on Thursday, February 1st from 5:30 – 7:30
p.m. in the McLane Meeting
Room. With Valentine’s Day just
around the corner this will be the perfect opportunity to make a unique card for
that someone special. Participants
will complete five projects including a birthday card and blank cards for any
occasion. No experience
necessary. All supplies will be
provided. Registration is required.
Space is limited and classes fill fast.

$$$$Tax Tips Program $$$$
The Fond du Lac Public Library will
offer a free program on personal income tax tips to help you better prepare for
the tax season. A representative
from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue will present the session on Thursday,
February 8th from 6:30 – 8:00
p.m. in the
McLane Meeting Room. There will be
time for questions and answers after the presentation. For more information call

Trace
Your Family’s Roots
Find out more about your family tree by attending a
free workshop, Getting Started in Genealogy, sponsored
by the Fond du
Lac Public
Library on Thursday, February 15 from 6:00 – 7:30
p.m. in the McLane Meeting
Room. You will learn how to
research your family history using a variety of print and online resources
including census records, cemetery and church records, and newspapers. Information available from
Fond du
Lac
County records will be highlighted. Registration is not required but is
recommended. For more information

Registration
Begins January 22 for Preschool Storytime
Registration for preschool storytime at the
Fond du Lac Public Library begins Monday, January 22. Storytimes meet in the Children’s Room
once a week for five weeks from February 6 through March 8. Listening to a story read aloud provides
countless benefits to preschoolers.
It introduces the children to new words and experiences that will
contribute to their success when they learn to read. More importantly, it exposes listeners
to the enjoyment that can be experienced from reading and exercises their
imaginations.
The following storytime programs include stories,
fingerplays, flannel board stories and songs. To register, or for more information,
please call the Children’s Room at 929-7080, ext. 127, or register online at
Laptime
Storytime is for children 12-23
months old accompanied by an adult.
No siblings please. The
sessions are held on Thursdays from 9:30-9:50 am, or from 10:30-10:50
am.
2 X 2
Storytime is for two year olds
accompanied by an adult. Programs
meet on Tuesday or Wednesday at 9:30-9:50 am.
Little
Listeners is for children age 3, 4,
and pre-K 5 years old. Children may
attend these programs without an adult.
Sessions are offered on Tuesday or Wednesday at 10:30 – 11:00
am.
Story
Stars programs are for children age
3, 4 and pre-K 5 years old who are unable to attend the regular daytime
sessions. Storytimes are held on
Wednesdays from 6:30 -7:00 pm.
Children may attend without an adult.
Storytime
Sunday will be held from
1:30 -2:45 pm on the first Sunday of the month on February 4,
March 4, April 1, and May 8.
Parents and children of all ages are invited to attend these fun
storytime and craft programs. No
preregistration is necessary.
Preschoolers need to bring an adult.
Milwaukee
Bucks Reading Challenge
Children in grades 3 through 10 have
a chance to become an All-Star Reader by participating in the 2007 Milwaukee
Bucks Reading Challenge at the Fond du
Lac Public Library. Kids who read at least 500 pages by
February 23 will receive a voucher for a free ticket to attend a Bucks home game
at the Bradley Center on either Saturday, March 17 at
7:30 pm vs. Charlotte Bobcats, or Sunday,
April 1 at 2:30 pm vs. Washington Wizards. Children who read more than 750 pages
will have their names entered into a drawing for an official Milwaukee Bucks
autographed basketball. Six
randomly selected children will also participate in the Milwaukee Bucks starting
lineup for each game. The “Read to
Achieve” Reading Challenge is a project of the Milwaukee Bucks in cooperation
with the Milwaukee County Federated Library System and Northwestern Mutual
Foundation. Complete details and

Sunday
Valentine Story Program
Children of all ages are invited to
a special Valentine Storytime on Sunday, February 4 from 1:30 –
2:45 p.m. Stories, songs, finger rhymes, and a
special craft will entertain all.
Preschoolers need to bring an adult. No registration is
necessary.

Soon! Austin Wenker
Exhibit
The Inspiration of
Diversity is the
title of a new exhibit of paintings by local artist, Austin Wenker that is
coming to the Langdon Divers Community Gallery at the
Fond du
Lac Public Library from January 29
through February 27,
2007. An opening reception will be held on
Friday, February 2, from 4:00 – 5:30
p.m. to meet
the artist. Refreshments will be
served. All work will be for
sale. A percentage of the sales
will benefit the library.

Mayo Clinic Weight Loss Center
As 2007 begins many of us
have resolved (once again!) to lose weight. The
Mayo Clinic Weight Loss Center website is a great place to get you off to a healthy
start. With a name you can trust,
the site offers safe tips and advice for a multitude of topics from diet and
exercise to weight-loss programs, products, and surgery. The weight-loss tools are especially
helpful. You can assess your
weight-loss needs and track your progress online. The site includes dozens of healthy
recipes and even a calorie calculator.
BOOKS
AT A BARGAIN!
Shop at the BOOKCELLAR, the used
bookstore operated by the Friends of the Fond du
Lac Public Library and located on the
lower level of the library. The
store has a great selection of children’s and adult materials at low, low
prices. Remember, by shopping at
the BOOKCELLAR you are helping to support your library. The store will be open Mondays from
noon to 6
p.m. on the
following dates: January 22; February 5, 19; March 5, 19; April 2, 16, 30;
and May 14.
